3D printing in metal, Direct Metal Laser Sintering

A company called Solid Concepts has produce a 1911A1 clone, in metal, with a 3D printer. 50 rounds have been fired from the pistol so far. It has a rifled barrel and all parts were made from the 3D printer except some of the springs.

Another 500 rounds at least have been fired from the pistol. The company has a Federal Firearms manufacturing license. So this was a Legally produced weapon. The pistol had all required markings.
